Q:I don't understand why, when trying to update an Info Route, the web app operates as though it's not possible for a user to select a new Purpose/Type/Data Set combination for a given Document Type/Mechanism Type? This was discussed briefly on defect 771, and I'm pretty sure one of you said it couldn't be done. I had a look at it with Kathy and this behaviour seems odd to me.

The reason is in the definition of an Info Route. An Info Route is the DESIGNATION of an EXISTING Address, Telecom or Electronic Communication mechanism. So, the Address, Telecom or Electronic Communication Mechanism has to already exist.
If we allowed you to create an information route with a non-existent combination of Purpose and Type, then you'd be ruined, because there's nowhere to actually specify the value (email address, telephone number or address lines).
