CPN
CPN is a PARTY.ID that has one to many relationship with Provider Id’s. It subsumes many Provider roles and CANNOT be a unique provider identifier. As indicated later in the text CPN = PERSON or ORGANIZATION and not Provider, which is a role played by a person or organization. IMHO the confusion underlying this quote is due to the fact that person and organization demographics are bound to the (Provider) role and not – as they should be – to the PARTY. Moreover, CPN is a misleading term that isn’t even in the data model. In the .db we have it as GRS_Parties.party_id. IMO the term “CPN” should not be used at all or else re-defined to Common Party Number
